Signing In

Every way to sign in — email, Google, passkeys — plus sign-up rules, account switching, and multi-session.

Updated View as Markdown

You can sign in to Tavern Cozy with an email, Google, or a passkey. All three work on web; the mobile app uses Google sign-in.

Sign-in methods

Email or username + password

On the login page, switch to Sign In and enter either your email or your username plus your password.

A Cloudflare captcha is required before submitting — it keeps bots out. If it’s missing, reload the page; an ad-blocker that blocks Cloudflare can also hide it.

Google

Click Continue with Google and authorize. If your Google email already has an account, you’re signed in to it; otherwise one is created for you.

Passkey

Click Continue with Passkey and approve with your device’s authenticator (Face ID, fingerprint, or a security key).

Creating an account

On the login page, switch to Sign Up and fill in:

  • Email — your login and password-reset address
  • Username — 3–44 characters, must start with a letter, and can contain letters, numbers, and underscores. It’s checked for availability as you type.
  • Display name (optional) — what appears on your profile and creations
  • Password — at least 8 characters, with at least one letter and one number

When you’re already signed in

Visiting /login while signed in shows a welcome screen instead of the form, with three actions: Enter the tavern, Add another account, and Log out.

Multi-account support

Tavern keeps multiple accounts signed in on the same browser so you can switch without logging out:

  • Add another account — from the welcome screen or the user menu (Add account). Sign in with any method; it gets added alongside your current session.
  • Switch accounts — click your avatar in the sidebar and pick another account under Switch account.
  • Maximum sessions — the app allows up to 5 active sessions per device by default.

Logging out

Log out is in the user menu (your avatar in the sidebar) and on the signed-in /login welcome screen. Logging out signs you out of the current account on this browser only.
